They are an SME that comprises an impressive portfolio of electronic products. The service offering of the group and the product portfolio is diversifying in both business, (i.e. IDMS - defence and high end communications etc) and consumer drivenmarkets, (i.e. telematics). CORE OBJECTIVES  Champion the technical strategy of the group, ensuring the alignment and harmonisation of design and development processes.  Spearhead the advancement of all design activities withinthe group, ensuring that existing activities are harmonised, and emerging technologies are implemented and exploited accordingly.  In conjunction with Sales and Marketing, deliver a substantial commercial impact to customers in respect of themunderstanding the full capability of our design services team.  Champion Embedded Systems Design Engineering and ensure the development of a world class team within the group.  Drive the Overall Operating Effectiveness of the technology group.  Overall people management responsibility for all Group technology staff.  Architectural design,especially embedded systems and communications (i.eLinux, C++)  Enhance key inter-departmental communications, specifically with manufacturing and test  Be the company ambassador for high level customer facing matters, including pre-sales.  Define and manage the groups intellectual property.  Full Operational Responsibility of all "technology staff (addresses in org chart etc)  Participate in Board Meetings  Champion high level design & development review meetings  Develop relationships with academic centres of excellence  Programme Management  Travel to customers / key partners as necessary, (internationally). You will already have an enviable track record of achievement in a similar role and possess an electronics, telecoms or computer science related degree, (or similar), from a top University. You will be world class in your approach to developing electronic and software engineering teams, being able to act as a system architect when needed. You will be adept at harnessing and developing commercial and technical facets. As aperson, you will have the gravitas and charisma that is conducive to commercially focused environments. You will possess a highlevel of drive, be logical and prudent and a first class problem solver. You will be a balanced individual who reacts positively to pressure.
